Frequently Asked Questions about the AES Foundation
Q: What is the AES Foundation?
A: The AES Foundation is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to providing the long term support that assures that our community of students, educators, and families can continue to implement programs and strategies that maintain and enhance Alpharetta Elementary School’s excellence and leadership in elementary education.
Q: How is the AES Foundation different from the AES PTA?
A: The Foundation can raise money through different channels than the PTA, and can provide funding for long-term or big-ticket items. The Foundation can also accept material contributions, where a PTA cannot. This difference enables the Foundation to support the school in a different way. A PTA cannot carry over funds from one year to the next, but a Foundation can. This enables the Foundation to provide long-term needs like technology investment, capital improvements, staff development, and educational programs and enhancements over a period spanning multiple school years.
Q: What are the Foundation’s priorities for this year?
A: This is the first year that the Foundation is fully operational, and the focus will be on setting long-term goals with the AES administration and helping with some “quick-hit” projects. We are working with the AES PTA and our new AES Principal to solidify both the long-term goals and the quick-hits for this year.
Q: How will joining the Foundation benefit my child and my family?
A: Your donation will enable the Foundation to get working on the established long-term goals and quick-hits for the year. The Foundation board will work with members, the PTA and the AES Principal to make sure we work on the priorities that are most needed to enhance our children’s education and well-being. As a member, you can play a part in how these goals are accomplished.
Q: What are the next steps for the Foundation?
A: Upcoming activities include:
1. The inaugural AES Foundation Golf Tournament at White Columns Country Club. (Tuesday, Sept 6th)
2. Membership and Volunteer recruitment. (Get involved now and help determine the Foundation’s Future!)
3. Collaboration with the Principal and the PTA to identify & prioritize the Foundation’s long-term goals (1st 3-5 years) and quick-hit opportunities (this school year)
Q: How can I get involved?
A: The simplest way to get involved is to join. Just fill out the membership form , attach a check or cash, and turn it in through your child’s teacher in an envelope marked “AES Foundation.” You may also turn it in at the front office. If you’d like to volunteer, or have other questions or ideas regarding the Foundation, please contact Nelton Gaertner at president@aesfoundation.org
