Programs
Animal Welfare
The first pillar in the Foundation’s mission is a commitment to support and improve animal welfare. Alice Elizabeth Stone spent her lifetime tirelessly working to improve the conditions of animals held in captivity, and fighting to save the lives of abandoned and homeless animals of all varieties. The Foundation continues her work and commitment each year by sponsoring annual $500 mini-grants to individuals and organizations working to improve the lives of both wild and domesticated animals. Mini-grants are open to all U.S.-based non-profit organizations in this area of service, and in some instances, to individuals with established projects. Application materials are available on the website. The deadline for application is May 1st, annually. Apply here.

Environmental Sustainability
The second pillar in the Foundation’s mission is a commitment to support and improve the planet which we call home. From the existential crisis of global warming and climate change, to the protection of native forests and the lungs of the world, the Foundation is committed to helping support efforts in environmental sustainability. The Foundation’s commitment to environmental sustainability is demonstrated each year through sponsorship of annual $500 mini-grants to individuals and organizations working to improve our planet. Mini-grants are open to all U.S.-based non-profit organizations in this area of service, and in some instances, to individuals with established projects. Application materials are available on the website. The deadline for application is May 1st, annually. Apply here.

First Nation Educational Support
The third pillar in the Foundation’s mission is educational sustainability. Access and affordability are crucial elements in attaining higher education. College age students from North American First Nations face numerous challenges. Only 14% of North American Native Americans attend college versus 41% within the general population. Reasons for this are wide-ranging, but the Foundation is committed to assisting First Nation students to change this trajectory and attend college through mini-scholarships. Each year, the Foundation awards a series of $500 mini-scholarships to assist in paying for college costs. Eligibility includes being a citizen in a recognized North American First Nation tribe and attending an accredited university. Application materials are available on the website. The deadline for application is May 1st, annually. Apply here.

STEM Masters Challenge
The Foundation is pleased to sponsor the 2021 National STEM Masters Challenge. Created by an innovative group of young STEM professionals, the STEM Masters experience is created for students grades 6 through 12 to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a way that goes beyond traditional science fair projects. For the STEM Masters Challenge, students submit original ideas of inventions, breakthroughs, and innovations in a high-energy, webcast challenge, going head to head, and pitching their ideas to expert panelists.
Middle and high school students first submit an application including a "pitch video" about their invention. Their inventions must incorporate STEM in some way, and the students will have to provide a proof of concept to demonstrate its feasibility. Nine middle school finalists and nine high school finalists will be selected to then present their ideas in front of a live (and virtual) panel of judges and compete for prizes and the chance to put their invention in the spotlight!
As the lead sponsor, the Alice Elizabeth Stone Foundation encourages STEM related enterprises to donate to this nationally webcast event. Sponsorship opportunities with name recognition start at just $2,500 annually. For information on donations or to apply, please contact us at info@stemmasters.org.
